Soft Solutions is pleased to announce 4-Sight FAX Server and Client version 7.0.10, representing a major upgrade to the 4-Sight FAX Server fax/modem engine. This release, free to current version 7 customers, provides compatibility for more modems and fax machines while improving modem (and fax machine) communications and reliability, specifically with Class 1 modems and a wider variety of fax machines.
The 7.0.10 release aims to provide a solution to wedge modem states, which began occuring with greater frequency with Class 1 modems under the latest releases of the Macintosh Leopard operating system.
With 7.0.10, Soft Solutions also adds support for two (2) new MultiTech modems, the MultiTech MT9234MU and the Multitech MT9234ZBA USB v92. These modems represent the latest in modem communications and provide customers with a 10 year warranty providing repair or replacement.
The 4-Sight FAX Client has updated its client to server connection using underlying Bonjour technology. While this implementation was initially in response to the FAX Client’s inability to see 4-Sight FAX Servers running under Macintosh OS X, 10.5.4 or later, the Bonjour solution provides fax server listings almost instantly within a networks subnet. In the majority of instances, the connection speed is now from 0 to 3 seconds, contrasted to earlier releases, which was anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds.
This 7.0.10 Client release also corrects a bug when the Client program has been relocated to anywhere outside its default “4-Sight FAX Client” folder. This scenario created a problem when the Client failed to locate the “Languages” folder. The updated client will automatically default to the English language. A variety of small bug fixes were implemented, including a slow memory leak patch.
